Brief History Of Barangay Sta. Rosa

STA. ROSA DANAO CITY, CEBU- Barangay Sta. Rosa (or Santa Rosa), named after the patron Snra. Sta. Rosa de Lima. They celebrated their fiesta on August 30, with full of roses and lot of devotee came from different places to join the celebration and to thank Sta. Rosa de Lima for all the blessings.

From a long time ago, a man walking near at danawan to collect some grass to feed his animals shock of what he saw while almost stepping a small yet gorgeous image. While, Fidel Poe Gian of Mantija II found out that the image of Snra. Sta. Rosa de Lima was gone in his locked altar. He discovered Sta. Rosa dress had a grass called "AMORSICO" and the whole body of Sta. Rosa was looking toward west, which means that this image was alive and walking for some reasons. No one touches it, no one hold it either.

One day, a man from his neighboring barangay visited his house was confused while watching the image of Sta. Rosa and told Mr. Gian that, that image was in his barangay the other day. After he heard it, he decided to give it (the image of Sta. Rosa de Lima) to that barangay. That's when they started calling that place BARANGAY STA. ROSA.

The chapel was built for Sta. Rosa de Lima and the danawan was built inside the chapel and it was called now a PUSU( or well) it was indeed a miraculous water and the choosen one will be given. After the annual fiesta family's of Mr. Gian borrowed the image of Sta. Rosa for one month.

SCHOOL HISTORY

Sta. Rosa Elementary School was founded in 1946. The school is situated in Barangay Sta. Rosa, municipality of Danao City. It started out with only one classroom which has an area of 10, 078 square meters. It is 8 kilometers away from the city. The school site was acquired through a Deed of Donation and is now under the name of the Department of Education under Tax Declaration NO. 0-0360808A.
The School from its founding to present is being administered by lots of well-experienced school heads such as: The late Mr. Elcano Bueno (1946-1950), the late Mr. Eleuterio Barriga (1950-1960), the late Mr. Jacinto Mata (1960-1969), Ms. Teresita Almendras (1970-1979), Mr. Raymundo M. Pita (1980-1982), Mrs. Teresita G. Rosal (1982-1989), Mr. Moises R. Enriquez (1989-1996), Mrs. Marlyn V. Canales (1997-2005), Mr. Joseph B. Jordan (2005-2009), Mr. Wilfredo S. Martel (2009-2010), Mrs. Vilma B. Hermoso (2010-2015), and Mrs. Rosalie M. Alfoja from April 25, 2015 up to present. The school garnered awards in academic and co-curricular activities participated through the leadership of the said administrators listed above.
STA. ROSA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was converted to STA. ROSA INTEGRATED SCHOOL last May, 2012. It opened Grade 7 last School Year 2013-2014.

The school has 4 buildings with 9 classrooms. The Gabaldon building was condtructed in 1945 which has 3 classrooms, BEE building with 3 classrooms which constructed in 2001, the FFCCCI building was built in 2005 with 2 classrooms and a makeshift building with 1 classroom constructed last January-May, 2015 and this occupied by Grade 9 students.
